With the inception of the Yellowstone Dance Project, YTI offers the students in the Bozeman dance community an inspiring and unique educational experience.
This program is intentionally designed as a complimentary enhancement to the excellent training they are receiving year–round in Montana. The opportunity to work with new teachers and gain new perspectives on training is a healthy and necessary component of the development of young dancers.
Our co-director, David Ward, received his training at the English National Ballet School in his native London, England. He is a master teacher in the United States as well as the United Kingdom, and is in his 14th season as a professional dancer. Emily Gotshall has taught for the past decade, and is now teaching full time since her retirement after a 20 year career as a principal dancer with BalletMet. They are based in Columbus, Ohio, where they reside with their young daughter.
The project will feature classes for students age 6 through advanced level in classical ballet technique, contemporary dance, and more, as well as an open adult dance class on select evenings for members of the community. Intermediate and advanced levels will have the opportunity to learn sections of classical and contemporary repertoire pieces from select choreographers currently being performed in dance companies
We hope that students will gain increased self confidence, strengthened technique, and perhaps a newfound interest in a different way of moving. We look forward to a great experience!
