STANDARD OF CONDUCT
As academics working toward a common goal, we model our behavior and interaction on scripture. Specifically, we strive to be people with compassionate hearts, marked by kindness, humility, meekness, patience, and forgiveness (Colossians 3:12-17). We also avoid conduct that is spiritually or morally harmful or could reasonably cause others to stumble, or cause public damage and internal strife to Yellowstone Theological Institute.
Personal Conduct
Students of Yellowstone Theological have private lives, and the board of directors respects that privacy. However, when a student’s private conduct becomes public and reflects negatively on the standards and values of the Institute (see Standard of Conduct), then reprimand and action will be taken by the President and Provost of Yellowstone Theological Institute. The following list of activities, though not limited to this list, are considered to reflect negatively on the institute: adultery by married students, abuse of spouse, abuse of children, public intoxication, substance abuse, and criminal conduct punishable by law. Our faculty and students must have conduct consistent with the conduct of Christ, and have demonstrably consistent moral behavior due to our contact with other students and community. Any student witnessed exhibiting described conduct will be subject to dismissal.
Policy Against Harassment
YTI is committed to providing an environment free of illegal discrimination and harassment. In keeping with this commitment, YTI expressly prohibits any form of harassment based on personal characteristics, including, but not limited to, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, genetics, or any other status protected by applicable law.
Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors and all other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual or otherwise offensive nature, especially where:
Submission to the conduct is made, either explicitly or implicitly, as a condition of an individual’s employment; Submission to or rejection of such conduct is used as the basis for decisions affecting an individual’s employment; or
Such conduct unreasonably interferes with the student’s academic performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for the student.
Prohibited conduct also includes, but is not limited to: the making of offensive comments, remarks, jokes, innuendos and gestures; the use of racial or religious slurs; the transmission, communication, or receipt, by way of email, text, or the Internet, of sexually suggestive, pornographic, or sexually explicit materials; or the use of any other remark, joke, or conduct that creates or contributes to an offensive academic environment.
Any individual who has reason to believe he or she is the victim of harassment should promptly report the facts of the incident to the Provost of YTI.
Any faculty member receiving such a complaint must promptly notify the Provost.
YTI prohibits any form of retaliation against students who file a complaint under this policy or who assist in a complaint investigation.
