ART 5201 (WINTER 2026) - Abstract Expressionism: Movement and Color

This art practicum will examine the development of abstraction via Vasily Kandinsky, the cultural context of the Abstract Expressionist movement, and the use of color and movement as primary components of a work. Students will make their own colors by mixing pigments and practice layering techniques to create a piece with inspiration from various Abstract Expressionist artists.
