ART 5301 - Introduction to Theology and the Arts
3 credits
Why do human beings experience attraction to the fine and performing arts? Why is art such a powerful representative of the human experience, including the experience of the divine? ART 5301 presents a history of the integration of belief and artistic creation. In this process, the student will come to understand the role of the imagination as the conduit for aesthetics in human understanding and the role of the arts in social commentary and social justice and develop a rudimentary theology of the arts.
