SPR 6301 - Spiritual Theology

3 credits

Expressions of Christianity have frequently veered in one of two directions: legalism or spiritual triumphalism. In SPR 6301 students will engage writings from the spiritual masters of the Christian tradition—from the desert fathers and mothers to the contemporary charismatic movements—in order to learn how to avoid dry and rigid legalism on the one hand and an overly triumphalist spiritualism on the other.
