Climb Electric Peak in Yellowstone National Park!
Adventure Practicum
October 6–8, 2026
In this Adventure Practicum, to be led by YTI’s Vern Streeter, participants will hike hard and high to summit 10,969-foot Electric Peak with views over Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons. This three-day backcountry trip is only 11 miles but has 4,000 feet of vertical ascent. The first day will involve a hike to basecamp, followed by summitting the peak the next day and a leisurely hike out on the third day. Participants should expect early-winter weather and not be surprised to see grizzly bears getting ready for hibernation. All participants will provide their own gear and food. This practicum may be completed for academic credit at YTI by degree-seeking students (credit students must complete pre-reading, adventure evaluation, and a final paper)*, but all are welcome!
DEADLINE TO SIGN UP: September 22, 2026
COST: $20*
Cost covers entry pass into Yellowstone Park and fuel.
*Practicum may be taken for academic credit at standard YTI tuition rates.
