Remembering Karen Gilhousen

Mrs. Karen Gilhousen, long-time YTI board member and friend of the institute, passed away on December 22, 2024. In this issue of Inscribed, we remember Karen’s life and legacy.

An Irreplaceable Part of YTI’s DNA

With Karen’s passing, an era has ended. With Karen and Klein, I learned truly not to judge a person by their checkbook. Her love will always be a part of YTI’s DNA.

A Pastor’s Reflections on a Fulfilling Life

When I think of Karen, I remember her deep love for her husband and our church. She led a fulfilling life because she was a dedicated follower of the One who loved her first.

Kind & Generous, with an Infectious Laugh!

Over the years, I got to know Karen better. Her laugh never changed. It was always loud and infectious. She was just as at home working on the ranch or talking over coffee at the church as she was attending the local opera.

Vision and Inspiring Commitment

From the first seedling of the idea of a ministry institute, to our tiny first office at the Gilhousens’ ranch, to our permanent campus at “the Barn”, YTI is deeply indebted to Karen and Klein’s vision, generosity, and faithfulness.

Recruiting Tour!

In February, several members of the YTI family visited college students in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, talking about ministry and YTI!

Institute Launches New 1-Year Certificate Programs

YTI is excited to announce the launch of 1-year certificates in Worship Arts, Adventure Studies, Leadership, Advanced Preaching, and Youth & Children’s ministry.
