ADV 5200 (Fall 2026)

For this practicum, participants will hike hard and high to summit 10,969-foot Electric Peak with views over Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons. This three-day backcountry trip is only 11 miles but has 4,000 feet of vertical ascent. The first day will involve a hike to basecamp, followed by summitting the peak the next day and a leisurely hike out on the third day. Participants should expect early-winter weather and not be surprised to see grizzly bears getting ready for hibernation. All participants will provide their own gear and food. For class credit there will be pre-reading, adventure evaluation, and a final paper.
