SPR 6303 examines the Christian mystical tradition, an important aspect of Christian spirituality. The course examines the rise of the Christian mystical tradition from the second-century Montanist and Gnostic movements through the medieval mystics to the early twentieth-century Catholic mystics. The student will become familiar with the cultural contexts, philosophies, and theologies that influenced these traditions.
