August 20-22, 2026
This hands-on practicum provides essential training in wilderness emergency response and first aid for outdoor leaders and ministry professionals. Students learn patient assessment, basic life support, treatment of injuries and illnesses in remote settings, and evacuation decision-making. The course follows American Red Cross guidelines and concludes with First Aid/CPR and Wilderness & Remote First Aid certification.

COST: $200*
*Course fees are calculated based on projected costs and are non-refundable after the add/drop period. Any surplus resulting from higher enrollment is retained by the institution to support program sustainability and future course offerings. Practicum may also be taken for academic credit at YTI at normal tuition rates.

Practicum Leader
LAURI HAWLEY is a Wilderness and Remote First Aid instructor certified by the American Red Cross. She loves to explore new landscapes with an eye for the little things waiting to be discovered there. She has hiked in the Appalachian Mountains, the Tetons, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and Glacier National Park. Lauri is Co-Founder of Hiker Church, and finds countless parables in creation applicable to the Christian walk of faith.
